Hotel Danieli, Venice, Italy

Location:
Hotel Danieli is an impressive restored 14th century palace located
on Venice’s Grand Canal and only moments away from the famous St
Marks Square. Regarded as a symbol of Venice itself, the historical Hotel
Danieli is within walking distance of the Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basilica,
the Bridge of Sighs and all the nearest shops, museums and restaurants
are on your doorstep. The hotel offers extraordinary views over the lagoon
and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, as well as a convenient water bus
(vaporetto) and gondola stop directly outside. Like most Venetian Palace's,
visitors usually arrived by boat, therefore, the Danieli’s original coral
façade facing the canal has been given extreme lavish architectural
treatment. Once inside the hotel, the main feature is the sweeping golden
staircase, with marble columns and gothic arches reaching up to a glass
roof.
History:
The history of hotel Danieli dates back to the 14th century when the Doge
Enrico Dandalo ordered the Palazzo Dandolo to be built in Venice. The Palace
soon became one of the most ostentatious and richly decorated buildings,
laden with high-society social events and many famous travelers. The hotel
was split up in 1536, when the widow of Mr Andrea Dandolo sold the first
floor to her two brothers, where the French Ambassador stayed frequently
and the remaining building was split between the Dandolo’s daughters. The
property changed hands many times, but fortunately it’s original splendors
were preserved and the Palace continued to exist in it’s initial lavish
style. In 1822, Guiseppe del Neil brought back the entire original Palace
and turned it into a hotel. During the 20th century the final restorations
were made to make the Hotel Daneili what is today.

and Suites: Fitted with 192 double rooms, 29 single rooms and 12 suites

style. Guests can request a bedroom overlooking the lagoon, which offers
an open balcony to one of the finest views in Venice, with a view on the
prominent positioned Church tower on San Giorgio Maggiore Island. The rooms
are laden with Venetian lacquered furniture, mirrors and paintings and
impressive woven silk headboards. Although the rooms may be traditionally
furnished, each room comes with individually controlled air conditioning
and plasma TV. The hotel’s magnificent Doge’s suite is magnificently decorated
with frescoes by Iacopo Guarana.
Restaurants
and Bars: Restaurant Terrazza Danieli on the top floor is as famous
for its cuisine, with fresh fish from the sea which comes in every morning,
as it is for it’s spectacular views. Whilst enjoying the Mediterranean
and regional menu you can admire the view over San Giorgio Maggiore Island
and also the Bridge of Sighs. In the evenings, the Bar Dandolo offers an
extensive range of appetising cocktails whilst listening to live piano
playing and by day, guests can enjoy proper English afternoon teas. Surrounded

and romance of Venice as soon as you enter this majestical building.
