Location:
Hotel Casa del Mar is located right on the seafront of the Southern California
seaside community of Santa Monica, mere steps from the Pacific Ocean. The
hotel is adjacent to the historic Santa Monica Pier, the dynamic Third
Street Promenade, Main Street, the elegant shopping and dining areas of
Montana Avenue, as well as the gardens, walkways and expansive ocean panoramas
of cliff-top Palisades Park. The stylish hotels interiors recreates a 1920s
Renaissance Revival-style resort: rich with elaborate relief work, sculptures
figures throughout the façade and intricately hand-painted ceilings.
The hotel’s restaurant, lounge and pool are all positioned on the ocean
front offering surrounding sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
History:
Club Casa del Mar opened in 1926 as a beach club and hotel which fast became
the hottest address on the Southern Californian coast. Built in a Renaissance
Revival style by noted Los Angeles architect Charles F. Plummer, with plush
Oriental rugs, intricately hand-painted ceilings and heavy bronze statuary,
the club immediately became the most prestigious place to visit along the
entire Pacific coast. It was the place to seen, renowned for its swinging
social scene and frequented by many of LA’s elite. The hotel briefly became
a military hotel during World War II before returning to its former beach
and club hotel, but never regained its former grandeur. After a $50 million-plus
makeover in 1999, the historic landmark was restored to its former glory
and created an elegant and sophisticated world class hotel along the sands
of Santa Monica bay.
Rooms
and Suites: With panoramic views of the sand, ocean and Pacific coastline,
the 129 newly renovated guest rooms and suites create a chic romantic beach
estate feel with calming colours, custom designed fabrics and a rich walnut
four-poster bed as a centre piece. Each room is outfitted with all the
latest technology and the opulent baths feature white Italian Calacata
marble walls and floors. The three extravagant two-story Penthouse
Suites feature eclectic Venetian designed furniture and furnishings, a
living room with a fireplace, formal dining area and either one or two
bedrooms. In addition, one of the Penthouses features an exercise studio.
Restaurants
and Bars: There are two restaurants in Casa del Mar; Catch Restaurant
and Sushi Bar and The Veranda. Catch Restaurant has a fresh, open feeling,
full of light and energy inspired by Southern Californian living. Over
spectacular views of picturesque sunsets, this restaurant offers innovative
‘market fresh’ cuisine and signature sushi and crudo dishes. The Veranda
is more of a casual dining experience, serving a selection of light Californian
cuisine, a speciality martini menu and live evening entertainment.

and Spa: The spa offers an intimate retreat on the fourth floor of
the hotel with five treatment rooms all decorated with Mediterranean furnishings.
The spa offers an extensive list of treatments focusing on achieving complete
wellness and a soothing sense of calm. The Spa offers ‘Feel the Ocean Breeze’
